End Abuse Long BeachOur Council has a long history spanning 3 different names in over 3 decades!
In 1975, when The Long Beach Area Child Trauma Council was founded, it was the first such Council in the State of California and only the second nationwide. It was responsible for the formation of the California Consortium of Child Abuse Councils and earned a strong reputation as a leading voice in child abuse prevention.
In the 1990s, Long Beach again led the way, this time by forming a partnership with the Long Beach Area Domestic Violence Council. In 1996, the two Councils merged to form The Long Beach Area Child Abuse & Domestic Violence Prevention Council.
In 2005, the Council-With-The-Long-Name became End Abuse Long Beach and, under its name, it continues the prestigious legacy of its predecessors.
Over the years, and under these different names, the Council has honored individuals in the community who have made significant contributions to the fields of child abuse and (from 1996) domestic violence. We encourage you to nominate exceptional colleagues or others in the community who work diligently to prevent further child abuse and domestic violence in Long Beach and beyond.
